Great Falls College MSU has received a generous donation from a local steel and recycling company, that will help kick off their expanding welding program. Jim and Debbie Filipowicz of Steel Etc., donated $20,000. Their donation will help establish Montana's first American Welding Society accredited test facility. WIND Montana Project Manager,
Mel Lehman, says the donation will help students in the area get higher paying jobs.

He says they were surprised by the donation but not completely blindsided since the couple has a history of supporting the college. The college hopes to be an official AWS test faciltiy by May of this year. They began the application process early December of 2012. Once the college is accredited, students will be able to take certification tests.
