GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position directs and manages the Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program, overseeing curriculum, instruction, performance testing, professional development and federal and state performance measures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Two years' experience in ESOL/Adult Basic Education for adults. Proven supervisory ability. Ability to cooperatively interact and communicate with adult students, public school personnel, college personnel, Adult Basic Education staff, and community agency personnel. Ability to coordinate/teach in an effective and competent manner. Knowledge of non-traditional needs. Must be able to exercise independent judgment in matters concerning course offering and scheduling. Willingness to accept flexible work schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree from a regionally accredited education institution preferred. TESOL degree or TESOL certification preferred.

Specific Position Duties:
The primary responsibilities include assisting Adult Education Co-op director with:

  • Developing, implementing, and supervising ESOL classes;
  • Ensuring that all baseline and progress testing takes place when needed and in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring that participant files are complete and up to date;
  • Ensuring that all program documentation is updated as needed;
  • Ensuring that all data is entered accurately and timely into TEAMS according to state and federal guidelines;
  • Planning and implementing of ESOL staff development;
  • Managing ESOL program publicity, student recruitment and follow-up;
  • Scheduling and conducting pre-service and in-service training as required;
  • Collecting and compiling timely and accurate monthly attendance and end of year class reports;
  • Conducting classroom instruction as designated;
  • Supervising staff to include providing guidance and support to personnel.
  • Evaluating teachers and aides;
  • Distributing and maintaining of inventory and equipment;
  • Supporting and implementing federal and state initiatives and
  • Carrying out other duties as assigned.
