SACRAMENTO ? California Department of Veterans Affairs Undersecretary Robin Umberg will hold a media availability at the Veterans Home of California - Fresno to brief them on the Job Fair and hiring in preparation of the opening of the home.

BACKGROUND: The Secretary and Undersecretary will be joined by the Assistant Deputy Secretary for Human Resources Karen Escobar and other staff from the California Department of Veterans Affairs at the initial job fair for the new state Veterans Home in Fresno. The Undersecretary will take questions after some brief opening comments from the Secretary. The Fresno Veterans Home is one of two new state Veterans Homes that the CalVet Department will be opening this year. It is planned that the first veteran residents will be admitted to the homes in the fall after staff is hired and the long-term care facility concludes its mandated licensing and certification process.
